Chapter 38(1 / 1)

Author's Note:

Kobe Suzuo: Blah

Satoru: It's a strategy.

Geto: So cool, Jujutsu Science..

Just take a casual look at the Cursed Technique; it's not exactly rigorous..

Chapter 35: That Jujutsu World

The official title used by Tokyo Jujutsu High in its public advertisements is Private Religious Higher Specialized School, which is jointly operated by the state and Tokyo.

The value of the graduation certificate is barely acceptable in general society; if students wish to pursue further studies, they can also enter a university through the "transfer system."

This is one of the reasons why most parents can be convinced to allow their children to study at such an unconventional religious school.

Employment is even more of a non-issue.

Jujutsu Sorcerers have been extremely scarce since ancient times, with missions that never end; from the moment they enroll, students are already nothing more than beasts of burden and laborers.

If you don't think too deeply about it, going to Jujutsu High to study is actually quite a wonderful thing.

Not only can you meet like-minded companions, but you can also learn knowledge related to Jujutsu.

The income is substantial, a stable position has fallen from the sky.

The colleagues fighting side by side were former classmates, every Cursed Spirit they eliminated was for the sake of saving others.

If one doesn't think deeply about it, this is how things are.

But the Jujutsu World is nothing but a pile of rotten shit.

Before ignorant parents send their children to Jujutsu High, they should actually ask about employment rates as well as graduation rates. What they should be most concerned about, in fact, is the mortality rate.

Jujutsu Sorcerers from sorcerer clans barely have any backing, but a sorcerer without a background is simply dead once they die.

The Elders do not care which ordinary family has lost a family member, nor do they care which pair of parents has lost a child.

An Assistant Supervisor was sent to the house, where he knocked on the door and simply delivered a piece of news:

I'm sorry, but he lost his life in an accident.

And so, the story of a Jujutsu Sorcerer came to an end.

But Kobe Suzuo had to admit that the existence of both Tokyo Jujutsu High and Kyoto Jujutsu High was indeed necessary.

Cursed Spirits are truly disgusting.

It was unimaginably hideous, its evilness was entirely natural.

The first time Kobe Suzuo saw that thing, he thought the World Consciousness had sent him straight to hell on earth.

Cursed Techniques generally awaken around the ages of four to six, which is roughly around the age of enlightenment; children with talent for being Jujutsu Sorcerers can see Cursed Spirits at that age.

Children who are completely unaware of the other side of the world might cry, frantically explaining that they have seen "monsters."

In the increasingly impatient words of adults, they will gradually realize that they themselves are the outliers among the crowd.

Then they learn to hide, enduring the vivid malice of Cursed Spirits in loneliness and pain.

Tokyo Jujutsu High teaches its students about the Jujutsu World and helps them learn to master their own abilities; the intention is good.

But the Elders are wicked.

Do you even understand what child protection laws are? Just because you change the term "working a job" to "going on a mission," does that mean it isn't child labor?

After clarifying the fact that the affairs of Jujutsu High were managed by the Elders Council, Kobe Suzuo knew that the Jujutsu World was already rotten to the core.

The most important infrastructure of Jujutsu High is Tengen's barrier. The overall architectural style is similar to shrines and temples, the part of Jujutsu High that looks most like a school is the playground.

The teaching staff is divided into two parts.

The external teachers who teach general subjects are actually Assistant Supervisors with teaching credentials. Regardless of whether the students are in the classroom or not, they leave immediately after finishing their lessons according to the schedule, never staying a moment longer.

Jujutsu Sorcerers who teach knowledge related to Jujutsu vary in level and depth; some do not even have teaching credentials, most are part-time, teaching classes while simultaneously undertaking missions.

How much a student can learn depends entirely on their talent and diligence.

One must be diligent, because you never know when a mission might go wrong, your target might exceed your own capabilities, leading to an unfortunate death on the spot.

In such a survival environment, where everyone is only sixteen or seventeen years old, it would be a miracle if they could focus on their studies.

It is quite reasonable that their education levels are not high.

In Kobe Suzuo's view, knowledge always serves the individual.

Jujutsu Sorcerers walk on the edge of death, obtaining a degree from Tokyo University won't lower their mortality rate, so Kobe Suzuo once briefly accepted the fact that all Jujutsu Sorcerers are "illiterate."

Then, Kobe Suzuo discovered that the abilities of this group of Jujutsu Sorcerers were actually, well, trendy.

It wasn't merely a setting based on the magic side; regarding Cursed Energy, Cursed Techniques, Barriers, there was more or less a touch of.. eerie scientificity.

Thus, Kobe Suzuo came up with all sorts of wild ideas, such as: Cursed Energy Duality, Spatial Technique Dimensional Observation, Cursed Technique Reversal Energy Transfer.

He was actually not very good at subjects like physics and chemistry; if he knew everything, he wouldn't be a Director, he would be a perfect and omniscient god.

Although the Director is not a god, the Director is wealthy.

Kobe Suzuo avoided the rigid and traditional clans and used his financial power to recruit a group of professional scientific teams.

It was at this very moment that Kobe Suzuo finally realized, with great pain:

How is it that the Jujutsu World is truly full of 'illiterates' everywhere?

Kobe Suzuo didn't necessarily need to study the reasons behind everything; he knew very well that there were many things in this world that could not be explained by science.

Like the aura that could always trigger wondrous effects around him, like when he traversed space and time across the boundaries of the world.

Kobe Suzuo was prepared for the possibility of throwing money into it just to hear a sound, expecting to research nothing, but he never imagined that a problem would arise at the very first step of communication.

The Jujutsu Sorcerer could not understand the scientist's question, the researcher thought Kobe Suzuo was playing with them.

They say that the end of science is theology, but isn't it a bit too sudden to start researching Cursed Energy right from the get-go?

The two sides had only been working together for a few days, yet they were already cursing about how hard it was to make money and how bitter life had become.

The Jujutsu Sorcerer said, "Give it up; there is nothing to talk about between us and ordinary people who cannot even see Cursed Spirits."

The researcher knew better how to make investors like them and racked his brain to submit a report.

Even if ordinary people know of the existence of Cursed Spirits, they cannot observe or kill them.. but they can be killed by Cursed Spirits; there is a dimensional deviation between the two.. The Cursed Energy within a Jujutsu Sorcerer shares the same source as Cursed Spirits..

The researcher used a detailed report to explain that the reason the research could not proceed was due to the non-cooperation of the Jujutsu Sorcerers.

Kobe Suzuo did not know the level of knowledge possessed by the Jujutsu Sorcerers from the Three Great Families who had received clan education.

But that batch of Sorcerers he had recruited—those who had been forced to "turn over a new leaf"—were truly lacking in socialization and had concerning levels of education.

The group of Jujutsu Sorcerers is far too complex.

Their eccentricity is not only due to their special abilities, but also because the Jujutsu World itself is severely disconnected from modern society.

Once you become a Jujutsu Sorcerer, it is difficult to ever return to an ordinary life.

Kobe Suzuo felt that her education was insufficient, she hadn't attended enough school, she had encountered too many lunatics at too young an age.

Setting aside everything else, can we at least have a complete five-year curriculum at Jujutsu High?

Cutting five years down to four, the fourth year is still a full year of internships with no courses—how much higher can those old fossils in the Elders Council go?

The employees under him are graduates from prestigious universities; if word got out, people might guess he is a big boss.

The employees under him were nothing but a bunch of uneducated thugs; if word got out, the police would be at his door to arrest him. He was truly the boss's right-hand man.

Kobe Suzuo thought back to her own history of starting a business from scratch in another world. She ignored Yuki Tsukumo's teasing and turned to look at Suguru Geto with an affectionate gaze.

Don't be like Yuki Tsukumo, Suguru-kun. I have high hopes for you.

Suguru Geto felt a chill down his spine under the strange gaze of Kobe Suzuo, he suddenly had a sense of foreboding.

You and Satoru will definitely get into university, right?

The talent that Kobe Suzuo has her eyes on definitely cannot be an illiterate Jujutsu Sorcerer.

Suguru Geto, who hadn't had anyone care about his academic performance since enrolling in Tokyo Jujutsu High..

I feel like Supervisor Kobe has some kind of obsession.

Satoru Gojo stood behind Suguru Geto, throwing an arm around his shoulder and looking at Kobe Suzuo with a smile:

But Suzuo, the old man from my clan won't agree to me wasting time going to some university.

He tilted his head and thought for a moment. "Suguru probably won't be able to go to university either; not every Jujutsu Sorcerer can be as 'leisurely' as Yuki Tsukumo."

Yuki Tsukumo, who had been watching the scene unfold, felt strangely patronized and finally could no longer help but defend herself.

I have work to do. I'm the one in charge of all of Suzuo's overseas research institutes..

The two young men, who were standing with their arms around each other's shoulders, both revealed expressions of disbelief and contempt that were incredibly punchable.

Yuki Tsukumo gritted her teeth in annoyance and rolled up the sleeves of her trench coat:

You brat, I'm the only Special Grade in the Jujutsu World, show some respect!

The two future Special Grade Jujutsu Sorcerers clearly had no intention of preparing themselves for their senior.

The sirens downstairs had stopped a long time ago; it seemed the bomb issue had ultimately been resolved by the police.

Kobe Suzuo pressed her headset and replied, "Understood," before giving a few instructions in English. Soon after, the familiar "thud-thud" of rotor blades echoed from a distance.

It was a helicopter from the Kobe Family.

Yuki Tsukumo looked up and asked, "That's it? The mission is over?"

Suguru Geto felt that today had been eventful enough, said softly, "You can also choose to continue with your missions, as if to make up for the time you missed over the past two years."

How could someone say such cruel words in such a gentle tone.

Satoru.

Satoru Gojo turned his head toward Kobe Suzuo upon hearing the voice.

Kobe Suzuo leaned against the rooftop railing, the lights of the distant buildings and streets blurring and sharpening in his vision.
